Terms & Conditions

Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before booking any services with Climbing Lions Safari. By making a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms on behalf of yourself and all members of your party.

1. Definitions

  • "Company" means Climbing Lions Safari, its employees, agents, and representatives.
  • "Client" means the person who makes the booking and all other persons on whose behalf the booking is made.
  • "Services" means safari packages, Kilimanjaro treks, cultural tours, beach holidays, transfers, and any other travel arrangements booked through the Company.
  • "Booking" means a confirmed reservation for Services made by the Client with the Company.

2. Booking & Confirmation

A booking is confirmed once:

  • The Client completes the booking form or sends a written booking request
  • The Company issues a written confirmation and invoice
  • The required deposit has been received by the Company

Initial inquiries made through our website do not constitute a binding booking. No contract exists until the Company sends a written confirmation.

3. Pricing & Currency

  • All prices are quoted in US Dollars (USD) unless otherwise stated.
  • Quoted prices are valid for 14 days from the date of the quote.
  • Prices include only the services explicitly listed in the quote. Flights, visa fees, travel insurance, gratuities, and personal expenses are excluded unless stated.
  • The Company reserves the right to adjust prices due to government-imposed tax increases, park fee changes, or significant currency fluctuations occurring after booking confirmation.
  • Itemised price breakdowns will be provided upon request.

4. Payment Terms

  • Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total trip cost is required to confirm your booking.
  • Balance: The remaining balance is due 60 days before the departure date.
  • Late Bookings: For bookings made within 60 days of departure, the full payment is required at the time of booking.
  • Accepted payment methods: bank wire transfer, credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard). A 3% processing fee applies to card payments.
  • Receipts will be issued for all payments.

5. Cancellation by the Client

All cancellation requests must be made in writing to bookings@climbinglionsafaris.com. Cancellation charges apply as follows:

We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that covers trip cancellation.

6. Cancellation or Changes by the Company

The Company reserves the right to cancel or modify any trip due to force majeure events (e.g., natural disaster, government travel advisories, civil unrest, pandemic), insufficient bookings, or safety concerns.

  • If the Company cancels a trip not caused by force majeure, a full refund will be issued.
  • If cancellation is due to force majeure, the Company will offer a credit note or alternative travel dates where possible.
  • The Company is not responsible for additional costs incurred by the Client (e.g., international flights, visas) due to cancellation.

7. Changes to Itinerary

The Company reserves the right to modify itineraries due to road conditions, weather, park regulations, or wildlife management decisions. Any changes will maintain the overall quality and value of the experience. No refunds will be issued for minor changes necessitated by circumstances beyond our control.

8. Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is mandatory for all Kilimanjaro treks and strongly recommended for all safaris. Your policy must include:

  • Emergency medical evacuation and repatriation
  • Trip cancellation and interruption
  • Medical expenses (minimum USD 100,000 recommended)
  • Altitude sickness coverage (for Kilimanjaro clients)

The Company accepts no liability for costs arising from a Client's failure to obtain adequate travel insurance.

9. Health & Physical Requirements

  • Clients are responsible for ensuring they are in adequate physical condition for the activities booked.
  • Kilimanjaro treks require a reasonable level of physical fitness. We recommend consulting your physician before booking.
  • The Company may refuse participation of any client who, in the guide's judgement, is unfit to continue safely.
  • Clients with pre-existing medical conditions must disclose them at the time of booking.
  • All recommended vaccinations and health precautions for Tanzania are the Client's responsibility.

10. Visas & Travel Documents

Clients are solely responsible for obtaining all required visas, passports, and travel documents. The Company is not liable for any costs or losses arising from a client's failure to hold valid documentation. Most nationalities can obtain a Tanzania visa on arrival or via the eVisa portal.

11. Limitation of Liability

The Company acts as an agent for accommodation, transport, and other service providers. While we carefully select all partners, we cannot be held liable for:

  • Death, personal injury, illness, or property loss or damage not caused by our direct negligence
  • Events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure)
  • Acts or omissions of third-party service providers
  • Wildlife behaviour or unpredictability during game drives or treks

Our total liability to the Client shall not exceed the total amount paid for the Services in question.

12. Complaints

If you experience a problem during your trip, please inform your guide or the Company immediately so we can attempt to resolve it. Complaints raised after the trip must be submitted in writing within 28 days of your return. We will respond within 28 days of receipt.

13. Photography & Marketing

The Company may take photographs or video footage during trips for marketing purposes. If you do not wish to appear in promotional material, please notify your guide at the start of your trip. Clients grant the Company a royalty-free licence to use trip feedback and anonymised reviews on our website and marketing materials.

14. Responsible Tourism

Clients are expected to respect local cultures, wildlife, and the environment during their trip. The Company reserves the right to terminate services without refund if a client's behaviour is deemed harmful, disrespectful, or puts others at risk.

15. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tanzania, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
